Artist Statement

I Sing the Body Corporation

COMMENTARY

Inspired by a poem, I Sing the Body Corporation uses found works, student and children’s art, poetry and acrylic paint on board to express its theme: the transformation of corporations into ethical human beings. The show evolved from reaction to the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision giving corporations the same free speech rights as persons.
Although the results of the Court’s ruling continue to devastate democratic principles, they are not permanent and inevitable. I Sing offers a hopeful alternative and is intended to encourage constructive solutions.
